Useful Information

Dearest reader,

Should your travels bring you from afar, it would be most prudent to secure suitable lodgings without delay.

Below you shall find a small, carefully considered selection of establishments — chosen for their comfort, convenience, and agreeable proximity to the evening’s festivities.

As with all such matters, early arrangements are strongly encouraged, for favourable rates are rarely inclined to linger.

Further down the page you will also find recommendations for carriages of the modern variety, along with practical guidance for travelling into Grimsby — all intended to ensure your arrival is as smooth as it is stylish.

Planning your arrival into Grimsby

For those arriving by rail, your destination shall be Grimsby Town. From there, depending upon your chosen lodgings, the onward journey may be completed either on foot or by local taxi.

With sufficient notice, Adam or Chris may be persuaded to assist with lifts from the station to nearby hotels — provided your arrival occurs before 2pm on the day of the celebration.

Guests travelling from the south will wish to take services operated by LNER, Grand Central, or Hull Trains from King’s Cross, with a change at Doncaster, Retford, or Lincoln, from which direct services run into Grimsby.

The total journey time from London is typically around three hours.

Direct services are also available from Manchester via TransPennine Express, while East Midlands Railway offers less frequent but convenient routes from Derbyshire and Nottingham via Lincoln.

For those inclined toward a touch of indulgence, Seatfrog may present the opportunity to secure a first-class upgrade. Prudence, however, is advised — bids beyond £20 rarely justify the extravagance.

(LNER, it must be noted, provides refreshments of the alcoholic variety; others are rather less generous.)

A note on travelling by carriage (motorised)

For those journeying from London by car, should you find yourself with a spare seat and a generous inclination and would welcome the company of fellow travellers for the road north we would be delighted to know.

With your permission, we shall gladly play the role of discreet matchmaker and put willing drivers and passengers in touch — a most agreeable arrangement for conversation, company, and shared petrol.

The morning after

Adam and Chris shall be staying at Healing Manor Hotel, and should any of our guests choose to rest their heads there also, you are warmly invited to join us for breakfast the following morning.

As fortune would have it, the day also marks our third anniversary, and it would be a joy to extend the celebrations a little longer in such excellent company — coffee, conversation, and fond recollections very much encouraged.
